We are pleased to announce that we will meet on Thursday, March 9 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at SLYCE Coal Fired Pizza Company - 913 N Milwaukee Ave, Vernon Hills, IL 60061.

For this first meeting, we will have free pizza available! Beverages (or other food) can be purchased separately. We will have the meeting room off to the side of the restaurant, where we will gather and hold the meeting.

At 7pm we have a special presentation in March featuring Sara Strassman, the program manager for the Trout Unlimited Driftless Area Restoration Effort (TUDARE).

TUDARE was started by Trout Unlimited volunteers to expand capacity for stream restoration projects in the unglaciated region of the Upper Mississippi River Basin in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois (The "Driftless Area"). TUDARE works to bring together partners from nonprofit conservation groups, community groups, schools, federal, state, and other agencies to plan, fund, and carry out stream restoration projects benefiting a wide range of plant, animal and fish species on sites accessible to the public. TUDARE’s goal is to protect and restore the largest collection of limestone spring creeks in the world. For more information visit:  https://www.facebook.com/TUDriftless

In this presentation, Sara will discuss the historical context of the Driftless landscape and review several of the major stressors to the coldwater resources of the area. She will describe the Trout Unlimited program elements and our priorities for the next few years, and end with some challenge questions and an opportunity for Q&A with the participants.

About the presenter: Sara Strassman is the Driftless Area Program Manager for Trout Unlimited.  In this role, she manages a ~$15M partnership with NRCS and administers the Driftless Area Restoration Effort National Fish Habitat Partnership with USFWS.  She has 16 years of experience working in water resources ranging from interstate management of the Mississippi River to dam removal projects in the Chesapeake and Delaware basins.  She has worked across project implementation, monitoring, program management and policy scales in both NGO and state government sectors.

This presentation will also be broadcast on Zoom, for those not able to attend the meeting in person.
