November 12, 2015 Meeting Minutes

Gary Border TU Chapter Meeting – 12 November 2015

Meeting called to order at 7:13 pm by Chapter President, Barry Coddens.

Members Present:  Barry Coddens, Myra Coddens, Darwin Adams, Evelyn Adams, Jeff Reinke, Matt Jennings, Bob DeGraff, Jack Bartels, Megan Berns, Kurt Kopala, Jen Ripple, Todd Montalbano, Ed Groves, Alan Sherman, Jim Moore, Mitch Kiesler, Buzz Epstein, Ross Crawford.

Business:

President’s Report:  The budget of $3475.00 was approved at the Board meeting on 11/11/2015.  Frank Leigner was appointed as VP for the next two years.  Adam Marton will speak at next month’s meeting.  Jason Randall will speak in February and tentatively Nicole Watson will speak in March.  Barry asked if there are any suggestions for additional speakers, that they be sent to him.

Conservation Report:  Matt informed the members about possibilities for upcoming projects with the Great Lakes Alliance.  There are possible projects to get involved with at Oak Creek, Open Lands Ravine which is north of Ft. Sheridan, and two ravines in Highland Park.

Project Healing Waters:  Darwin informed the members of talks in conjunction with a church in Mundelein.  It is possible we would be able to partner with this church to start a PHWFF chapter at Lovell.  This would fit nicely with the Ft. Sheridan fly tying events possibly planned.

Volunteer Hours:  Barry reiterated the importance of documenting volunteer hours and asked that all volunteer hours be turned in to Jim.

Youth Camp:  Darwin listed ways members can get involved in the Youth Camp, which include tying flies, donating money, being a volunteer at the camp and finding a student.

Barry then introduced Matt Jennings and Mitch Kiesler, who spoke on “East Coast Classics,” and their trip to Pennsylvania and New York.

A raffle was performed at the end of the presentation.  Meeting adjourned at 8:33 pm.
